Make it.
Make it work.

Fast ideas, late nights, strange prototypes, and some wonderful teams. Here are a few things we built together.

AeroShield — 2nd Place

EDTH Sofia

Took 2nd place at the European Defence Tech Hackathon in Sofia with AeroShield, a software wind filter for acoustic drone detection. Eight microphones listen together: wind hits each one differently while a distant drone reaches them all the same way, so the filter keeps what they agree on. On far-away drones in strong wind it lifted detection from a coin flip (0.48) to 0.82, so existing detectors hear a drone about 1.9× farther. Built as a drop-in software upgrade for microphone arrays already in the field, with a live before/after listening demo.

Defense Tech Track — Hacker

BUILDARENA Hackathon

Built a self-navigating interceptor rocket as a counter-UAS defense mechanism at this European defense tech hackathon in Stockholm. The rocket is catapult-launched and autonomously navigates toward aerial targets — using a red balloon as a proof of concept. The system runs on a Raspberry Pi with a flight controller, processes live camera feeds to detect and track the target via UDP, and outputs real-time steering commands through operational modes (Search, Track, Approach, Capture). Extensive 3D-printed mechanical components for the airframe and fin mechanisms. 90+ hackers from across Europe, organized by Techarena, European Defence Tech Hub, and Inflection Fund.

Team 443 — 1st Place Winner

Hack TUES 11

Won first place at Bulgaria's largest student-organized hackathon with a telesurgery platform enabling remote surgical operations from anywhere in the world. The system features a multifunctional robotic instrument holder with integrated camera, real-time VR visualization for the surgeon, and WireGuard VPN for secure low-latency communication, hosted on AWS. Built with teammates Aleksandr Mechkarov, Todor Kolev, and Hristiana Angelova, mentored by Maria Tsvetkova. The hackathon's theme was "Hack the Wealth" with 360 participants across 77 teams at Sofia Tech Park.

Team from TUES — 2nd Place

Голямото Schwarz междучасие

Won 2nd place with Kashu — a mobile app that optimizes in-store supermarket shopping by calculating the shortest possible path from entrance to checkout while completing your entire shopping list. Built with a team from TUES using React Native (Expo) for the mobile app and a Python/Flask backend for pathfinding, containerized with Docker.
